Baramulla, Nov 19 : As elections to the District Development Councils (DDCs) is gaining momentum, several youth have joined the battle of ballots or in the process of joining it, making the polls being held in Jammu and Kashmir an interesting contest.

In Narvaw Sheeri area of Baramulla district, one young flamboyant advocate Miss Rabia on Thursday appealed the young and old of Kashmir to come forward to fight for their own rights and set up the basis of new Kashmir.

Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Advocate Rabia rubbished BJP’s slogan of ‘Naya Kashmir’ saying why should youth of Kashmir see towards hollow promises of Bhartiya Janta Party or other parties who deceived us from last many years.

“It is time to come forward, think over it and help ourselves and vote for the development and democratic rights. There is nothing left in BJP’s hollow slogan of Naya Kashmir.  Let us gather our energies and start working for our own Kashmir. Accept the DDC elections as an opportunity and be the harbingers of positive change,” Advocate Rabia said.

She said that being a professional advocate, she has got first hand experience of people’s sufferings around the whole Jammu and Kashmir and to address those sufferings and basic needs of people, she has decided to contest the DDC elections.

With the election fever around, several candidates have already filed their nomination papers. Political experts are saying that with young minds like Advocate Rabia who is the independent candidate from Narvaw area of Sheeri in Baramulla district, the contest for the DDC elections is going to be very tough yet interesting.
