Srinagar, June 26:- In connection with international drug abuse day the district sub jail Pulwama in collaboration with The Kashmir Pulse organized an awareness program inorder to raise the awareness among the inmates.
The speakers on the occasion speak at length about the causes, consequences of the substance use and they said it’s the collective responsibility of each and every one to come forward to make our society drug free.
While speaking on the event, Superintendent of the Jail Reyaz Ahmad said that the issue of drug abuse is a challenge before the country.
It is the duty of all stakeholders to join in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent this menace, he said.
He also sought cooperation from all stakeholders in eradicating the social evils prevailing in the society particularly menace of drugs.
He further said that to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, public cooperation is necessary and Police is always available for help to those who are victims of this addiction and is ready to make all possible efforts to help and rehabilitate those affected persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tanveer complimented the participants and highlighted the need to protect the young generation from the menace and drug abuse poses a serious challenge to the society.
He underlined the need to disseminate awareness through different mediums, & urged upon different sections of the society to act vibrantly against the issue while assuring every possible initiative from the administration to nip this menace in the bud.
