Srinagar| Apr 07 : Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday called for the need to resolve the long-pending Kashmir issue for setting a precedent for a long-lasting peace in South Asia.
The conglomerate said that deviating and delaying tactics were the main cause of unrest in the region and such acts need to be checked to ensure peace.
Addressing various meetings in south Kashmir’s district Islamabad, senior party leaders Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Javaid Ahmad Mir said Kashmiri people are the fundamental party to the Kashmir issue and going for any solution to this issue without taking in consideration the opinion of Kashmiris would not be viable.
They said by pushing Kashmir on the backburner neither India nor Pakistan could come up with an everlasting solution to the issues between the two countries.
The leaders said for fulfilling their political demands and ensuring that their just rights were granted to them; Kashmiris had given innumerable sacrifices and had shown steadfastness in safeguarding those sacrifices for the achievement of freedom.
They said unresolved Kashmir issue had the potential of creating problems for the region and threatening peace in future as well and for that efforts needed to be put in to secure the political future of millions of people of the subcontinent.
The Hurriyat leaders said the onus of safeguarding the sacrifices of thousands of Kashmir’s martyrs was collectively upon the leaders and the public and ignoring this responsibility could be dangerous to Kashmir’s freedom struggle and just cause. (PTK)
