Clashes erupted in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday during the shutdown in the area against the killing of a militant in an encounter with security forces on Tuesday. According to KNS correspondent, clashes erupted between angry youth and security forces. The youth pelted stones on the forces and the security forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse them. Shutdown was also observed in the Anantnag town and the nearby areas against the HM militant, Mushtaq Ahmad’s killing by security forces in Kokernag area on Tuesday. Shutdown was observed in Kupwara town against the January 27 massacre in 1994 by security forces. The shutdown was called by Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Shops, business units were closed, while traffic was off the roads.
