Govt’s revengeful tactics putting lives of our party leaders in danger: PDP

0

Srinagar, Apr 17 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday slammed the governor administration over putting the lives of its leaders in danger by undermining their security while trashing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with impunity.

In a statement issued PDP spokesman said that Kashmir has been plunged into the state of lawlessness with deliberate moves being made by the government to jeopardize security of the senior PDP leaders.

He said that there are in total four PSOs allotted to one of its senior leaders and founder member Muhammad Sartaj Madni, hence deliberately putting his life in danger. Madni has been a two time legislator, Deputy Speaker of J&K Legislative assembly for the period of six years and was Vice President of J&K PDP till recently.

“Even the new entrants of other political parties have been accorded with higher grade security cover while as senior politicians from the PDP are left in lurch deliberately,” said the spokesman.

He cautioned the governor administration that if any untoward incident takes place, the responsibility of the same will entirely be of the government.

The spokesman added that by undermining the security cover of senior PDP leader Sartaj Madni, the administration is sadistically singling out the PDP and providing its leaders and contesting candidates least security and vehicles which are in dilapidated condition.

He added that such a partial and unconstitutional way of treatment is unacceptable and the government is deliberately jeopardising the security of the PDP leaders.

Why is Omar Abdullah using denial made by Ram Madhav in 2014 as a fig-leaf to not comment: Sajad Lone

0

Srinagar, Apr 17 : Peoples Conference (PC) chairman and former minister, Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday questioned the silence maintained by former chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah over his meeting with the BJP leadership in New Delhi following 2014 elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Lone had recently claimed that Omar had met BJP leadership in 2014 to work out power sharing arrangement in the State.

Earlier in the day, Omar when asked about the claims made by Lone told the reporters that they should ask this question to Ram Madhav.

Lone said he did not name Ram Madhav. “I know Ram Madhav denied the story in 2014. A rumour is not to be believed unless it is officially denied. And why isn’t Omar replying. Why is he saying, ask Ram Madhav? Does that mean Ram Madhav was there? When did I name Ram Madhav? I said BJP top brass. That Omar is saying ask Ram Madhav means that at least one participant in the meeting has been identified,” he said.

Sajad said that Omar should answer the question in a simple yes or no.
“This is a simple question which can be answered with a yes or no. With every passing day it is clear that our assertions about the meeting are unambiguously true. He is himself substantiating our claims and creating evidence.”

He added that one non-NC, non -BJP politician was also present in the meeting.

“I repeat, he (Omar) met them. He discussed modalities of government formation and agreed on rotational chief minister. Omar had tea. I think ‘Pakoras’ were also served,” Lone said.

She further stated that fruit growers and dealers are suffering huge losses due to the ban on highway while as a death has also occurred due to such ban. “I don’t know what Government of India and Governor of Jammu and Kashmir want to do with Kashmir by issuing such orders,” he added.

Youth taking arms as Mehbooba fails in ‘Chowkidari’: Omar

0

Srinagar, Apr 17 : National Conference (NC) vice president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday said the reason behind youth picking up arms was the failure of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s ‘Chowkidari’ in the State.

Talking to reporters at Shangus area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Omar said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mehbooba Mufti is claiming to have done Chowkidari for the people of State in last over four years, adding that it was failure of her Chowkidari that the youth are picking up guns in Kashmir.

“If she has done Chowkidari for the State then why current situation prevails in Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba has herself claimed that her party workers are feeling helpless, in case she has done Chowkidari then why is this happening,” he asked, adding that she has failed to do Chowkidari in last over four years.

Omar further stated that prevailing situation including the loss in tourism and anger among people is the outcome of her failure in doing Chowkidari. He hoped that people of Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency will teach a lesson to them.

Furthermore, NC leader also hit at ‘Chowkidar’ (Prime Minister Narendra Modi), saying whether an attack in Sunjwa or Pulwama, he has failed everywhere. “Chowkidar has failed in saving economy of the Country. After demonetization, it was said that black money will be removed, but in elections the seizure of money indicates that demonetization has also failed. We don’t say ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ (Watchman is burglar) but he has failed,” Omar told reporters.

Asked about allegations levelled against him by Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman Sajad Gani Lone wherein he had stated that ‘Omar after culmination of 2014 elections had met BJP leader in Delhi’, NC Vice president told reporters that, “ask this question to Ram Madhav, not me.”

About highway ban, Omar said, “the decision was a ‘Tuglaki Farmaan’. We have already urged Governor to reconsider the decision. I don’t know what Governor is doing as even after a patient has died due to highway ban, the order still exists.”

He added that Governor has also claimed that the government will not be formed in the State and the Governor rule will continue. “I don’t know how come the Governor has made such claims. Either his intentions are not good or he wants to ruin the State by ruling it for a long,” he said.

Omar added that they demand the ban on highway be revoked at an earliest and the assembly elections be held soon after the culmination of parliamentary polls. (KNS)
